Buddha's Birthday

In honor of Buddha's birthday, Seoul hosted a lantern festival on May 16. I have never seen such elaborate lanterns. They were beautiful. The day started with booths demonstrating different art forms, or sampling temple food, then the big hoorah was a lantern parade. It seemed as though every Korean was in the parade, and every foreigner was watching. Although, many Koreans were watching too, but the parade was somewhere around 3 hours long!!

the overhang was a Korean flag made of lanterns.

Ladies getting ready for the parade.

no caption necessary.

A man had these little creatures that he was letting everyone hold. safe, i'm sure.
