on the topic of food

this is the sweet potato my student brought me. it was snack time and i had my back to my students to organize a few papers. I hear "teacher" and turn around to find a girl holding a boiled potato with her bare hands. i said thank you, but never ate the potato.

this is an example of the school lunch. they charge us a dollar a day to eat. it is usually pretty good, and you can eat all you want. this happens to be my least favorite so far. i couldn't eat this lunch. the bottom right is meat that was mixed in with hard boiled quail eggs. i tried to pick around the eggs. the bottom right also has rice and some veggies. the veggies were a bit odd and so were the greens to the left. the top left is kimchi, served at every meal here. the top right is a kind of grape, but you don't eat the skin and they have seeds, which you do eat... odd. i ate some crackers that i brought from home on this day. waste of a dollar i suppose.

velveeta cheese slices run you about 6 bucks. yikes.

a can of reddi-wip will run you about 15 bucks. yikes. yikes.

my first baskin-robbins trip. it was delicious. it was about 2 dollars for scoop, so that's about right.
