My third trip to the zoo
This post is long overdue, and I am sorry for that. I went to the zoo twice on field trips with my kids, then I went back for a third time to actually see the animals. It's amazing how long it takes to shuffle 15 four year olds through the zoo, so we didn't get to spend much time seeing the animals. I saw signs for a polar bear, and as this is one my of my favorite animals, I knew I must return to see it. However, I have sad news to report. After spending 20 minutes following these signs for the polar bear, only to find seals and penguins, I realized it was a sham. There was no polar bear. I left disappointed and later asked the Koreans I work with where was this supposed polar bear? No one seemed to know, only that it wasn't there anymore. They should really take the sign down. So these are pictures from my third trip to the zoo, and some other funny things as well.

This is a menu at a local bar. However unappetizing this looks to you, it is pretty typical bar food. It is assortments of dried squid, octopus, and fish. At the bottom right is a loaf of bread with ice cream. I was intrigued....

Yup, it was exactly that. A loaf of bread with a scoop of ice cream on top. It was actually quite delicious. The bread was sweet and warm, and the inside was really soft.

This sign is not uncommon inside the subway. If you need to nurse your baby while on the subway, they have provided a nice, quiet place for you.

The gutted building you see here is where my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant once stood. Amanda and I went here every Friday for two months, then one Friday we showed up to find this. It happens a lot here though. Businesses shut down and new ones take their place overnight. This space was turned into a bakery cafe in only two days.

Look closely, it's called 'INFLUGATE'. People were waiting in line to walk through this machine. I had to wait in line to see what all the commotion was about.

Of course. The sign states that it kills flu germs. As you walk through, you are surrounded by a cloud of vapor. I suppose this has some sort of virus killing chemicals in it. Is this safe?? Who knows.

Sunflowers are my favorite, These are at the end of their blooming, but still very pretty.

Taking the sky lift to the zoo instead of walking up the loooong path. It was a really nice view of the park from here.

On the lift.

Still on the lift.

This shows the prices of the lift and the zoo. 3,000 won for the zoo, 9,000 for the lift. So that is 12,000 won, about 10 bucks for the zoo and lift. So cheap compared to home. Zoo Atlanta is about $15 just for the zoo.

Cute giraffes.

Cute camel.

Stroller parking in the zoo. I'm not sure where all the occupants went. But there are actually lane lines for each parking space. Wow.

Giant water buffalo. Don't worry, it's only a statue.

Inside a hippopotamus mouth. Again, it's only a statue. No danger posed.

Giant animal feet.
At the mall, this group of young Korean boys were performing. Very entertaining.
